Father & Son Matching Suits for Weddings
If you’ve landed on this blog, chances are you’re trying to work out how to get the matching father-and-son wedding look right without making it feel too staged. Good news — it’s actually easier than you might think.
I’m Ben, and I run Menz Suits with my dad, Steve, so being a father-and-son business ourselves, this is one subject we’re probably more qualified than most to talk about.
There’s something really special about a father and son wearing matching suits at a wedding. It looks brilliant in the photos, brings the whole family look together and, for a groom matching with his son, makes the little one feel properly part of the day.
And don’t worry — matching doesn’t mean you both have to look like you’ve been dressed by the same mannequin. The trick is getting the colours, fit and overall look to work together naturally.
So, whether you’re the groom, a dad, or just trying to get a page boy looking smart for longer than five minutes, here’s how we’d get the look right.
Do Father & Son Suits Have to Match Exactly?
Not necessarily — and sometimes they actually look better when they’re not matched down to the very last detail.
If the same suit is available in both men’s and boy’s sizes, an exact match can look brilliant, especially for a groom and page boy or a father and son wanting that proper coordinated wedding look.
But matching can also be a little more relaxed.
Dad might wear the full three-piece suit while his son wears the same suit with a different tie, pocket square or waistcoat. You can also link the outfits through colour, check pattern or accessories without making them identical.
The aim is for both outfits to look like they belong together — not like you’ve accidentally ordered the same outfit in two different sizes.
And if the child is younger, comfort wins every time. He still needs to be able to sit down, eat, run around and make it through the photos without looking like he’s counting down the minutes until the suit comes off.

4 Father & Son Wedding Suits We Recommend
Now for the good bit — the suits themselves.
Rather than throwing dozens of options at you, these are four matching men’s and boys’ suits we’d genuinely recommend for weddings. Each one gives you a slightly different look, so it really comes down to the season, venue and how traditional or relaxed you want to go.
Cavani Caridi Olive
If you’re planning a rustic, barn or outdoor wedding, the Cavani Caridi Olive is one of the first suits I’d look at.
The olive tone gives you something different from the usual navy or grey, while the subtle check keeps it smart and easy to wear. It works especially well for autumn weddings, country venues and more natural colour schemes.
Pair it with a white shirt, brown shoes and neutral, sage or champagne accessories and you’ve got a really strong father-and-son look without trying too hard.

Paul Andrew Mayfair Stone
For a spring or summer wedding, the Paul Andrew Mayfair Stone is a brilliant option.
The lighter stone colour gives the whole outfit a fresher, more relaxed feel while still looking properly dressed for the occasion. It works particularly well for outdoor ceremonies, lighter venues and weddings using softer or neutral tones.
A crisp white shirt and brown shoes finish it off nicely — simple, clean and very easy to get right.

Paul Andrew Hamleys Navy Gold Check
If you like navy but want something with a bit more character, the Paul Andrew Hamleys Navy Gold Check is a strong choice.
The navy base keeps it classic, while the subtle gold check gives the suit enough detail to stand out in photos without looking overdone. It works particularly well for grooms, groomsmen, page boys and junior groomsmen.
Basically, it’s navy — just with a little more going on.

Cavani Torino Navy
If you want something timeless, the Cavani Torino Navy is hard to go wrong with.
Navy works all year round, suits pretty much any wedding venue and can be styled around almost any colour scheme. Sage, burgundy, champagne, pink and blue all sit well with it.
It’s also one of the best options if you want a matching father-and-son suit that can actually be worn again afterwards — always a bonus when you’ve convinced everyone to dress properly for the day.

Getting the Boys Fit Right
This is the bit that can make or break the whole look.
A boys wedding suit should look smart, but he still needs to be able to sit down, eat, run around and enjoy the day. There is no point getting the perfect photo at 1pm if by 2pm he is desperate to get out of it.
The jacket should sit neatly through the shoulders without feeling restrictive, and the trousers should fit securely without being too tight.
And because children grow quickly, I would never rely purely on age when choosing a size. Take fresh measurements and check them against our men’s and boys suit size guide before ordering.
For weddings, we normally recommend starting to organise suits around 8–12 weeks before the day. That gives you enough time to secure the right sizes and sort any adjustments without leaving everything until the last minute.
For younger boys especially, check the fit again closer to the wedding before making any permanent alterations.
Because if there is one thing you can rely on with kids, it is that they will have a growth spurt at the least convenient time possible.
Who Can Wear Matching Wedding Suits?
Father and son is the obvious one, but matching men’s and boys suits can work across the whole wedding party.
They’re a great choice for:
- A groom and his son
- Father and son wedding guests
- Grooms and page boys
- Junior groomsmen
- Brothers of different ages
- Coordinated family wedding photos
And they don’t all have to be styled exactly the same.
The adults might wear matching ties and pocket squares, while the younger boys keep things a little simpler. As long as the suits connect through colour, fabric or detailing, the whole group will still look coordinated.
That way everyone looks like they belong together — without turning the wedding party into a uniform.
